Most of Club Sensationzzz (Sam; Galloway Allbright) participated in the Bug Theatre's monthly "Freak Train" last night. Sam was heartened that CS's sketch comedy was politely received given the audience's "NASCAR-esque" thirst for humiliating flameouts early and often by the open mike participants. Besides, the two burlesque dancers and the guy who did one of Peter Finch's monologues from Network were "impossible to follow..."

Sam will take part in round two of the Comedy Works New Faces Contest '07 sometime the second week of August (a highly placed audience member speaking anonymously about tonight's set said Sam was "hilarious"). More details to follow.

Burt's Maintenance, the most recent "Battle Royale" champions, have been given a three week run (Friday, July 13, 20; 27, 8 p.m.) at the Bovine Metropolis to perform original sketch material on a co-bill with Earth, Wind and Fire...and Water.

Sam will perform with Playpen (Galloway Allbright, Chris Gallegos, Yvette Rebik, Rick Rothenberg, Meredith Winfield; Shannon Wood) in the "Battle Royale" at the Bovine Metropolis every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. ($5) unless defeated in this weekly donnybrook of local long-form improvisation troupes (they won tonight, by the way).

This evening's reconfigured Brother Benjamin--Sam, Eric Farone, Dave Karasik; Ryan Williams--murdered but still failed to defend its Battle Royale (Tuesdays / 7:30 p.m. / $5) title at the Bovine Metropolis.
