Bovine Metropolis hosts Convention? in August

For the month of August, you can see Convention? on Tuesdays at the Avenue Theater (7:30 pm / $10 and a free drink) and Wednesdays at the Bovine Metropolis Theater (7:30 pm / $8).

Convention?

Sam's ankle is on the mend. He appeared in tonight's primary in a Robo Cop-esque walking boot/cast on one crutch (Convention? at Avenue Theater / Tuesdays / 7:30 p.m. / $10 admission gets you one free drink).

Sam returns to Convention?

Not precisely a FDR take on the current political scene, but Sam will appear in a wheelchair, his wizened legs covered with a blanket, for this evening's primary (Convention? at Avenue Theater / Tuesdays / 7:30 p.m. / $10 admission gets you one free drink).

Sam is questionable for Convention? this evening

Sam is convalescing after breaking his ankle early last night attempting to buy food from Taco Bell. Really. No lawsuit is pending unless you can bring suit against yourself for being a klutz. While he's mulling an appearance, it would fly in the face of common sense and doctor's orders (7 to 10 days of foot elevation; visit the orthopedist). We are, however, dealing with Sam.

A Very Special Halloween

Don't know how we missed this one. A Very Special Halloween is a holiday film from the 2007 48 Hour Film Project (48HFP). Denver producer/director Will Kingston of BadScience Entertainment made the film at Base 2 Studios with members of the Bovine Metropolis Theater. It was originally screened in Denver at the Starz Filmcenter on August 8, 2007.

48HFP teams must base their films on one of 13 genres (ranging from buddy film to Sci-Fi) selected from a hat. Officials then randomly draw a character, prop and line of dialogue that each team must incorporate into their film. Assignments are made on a Friday night and film teams must write, shoot, edit and score a movie in the next 48 hours. A typical running time is between four and seven minutes.

The BadScience team was given the following required film elements:

• genre: holiday
• character: Kenny or Kendra Colter, tattoo artist
• prop: a pie
• line of dialogue: "I bet you think you're clever, huh?"

The original Club Sensationzzz (Sam, Galloway Allbright; Ryan Mattingly) and Convention? cast members, Kathleen Boland and Keith Rains, appear in the film.
